Review: ‘Snowpiercer’ Episode 1

Snowpiercer begins its first season on TNT May 17th, and it seems people might be overlooking this release. While the show is inspired by the film and graphic novel of the same name, this adaptation for television has quite the pair of lead actors. Oscar-winner Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs have fantastic chemistry in this post-apocalyptic narrative set 7 years after the world froze. All of humanity is now on this train, which is perpetually circling the globe with the last remnants of humanity on board.  Here are my 5 takeaways from the first episode.

5- The opening sequence –

I thought the opening sequence was perfect, and if nothing else grabbed the attention of audience members who weren’t sure what to make of this show.

4- Betrayal –

Someone in this tails group is working for the people who are running Snowpiercer. It’s a hunch and nothing more, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

3. Best Visuals –

For a show that isn’t necessarily visual, these were the best ones in the first episode. Love the use of the barbed wire with the gate next to the open space of the train cart.

2. Oh my-

She is the best part of the 1st episode and could quickly end up being the best part of the series. We shall see!

1. Secrets –

Everyone on board this train seems to have some sort of secret. Melanie (Connelly) might be holding the biggest one of all.
