Run is the most befuddling series that I’ve watched this year. There was no indication that the show would be this over the map. The trailer made it seem fun chase centric HBO series with two strong leads in Meritt Wever and Domnhall Gleeson. It isn’t like the audience doesn’t understand the premise behind show creator Vicky Jones’s series. It’s just that these episodes have brief moments where you are sucked into the narrative, and the rest seems extraneous. The show should not have been a 30 minute one. Well, at this point, it is what it is, so let’s get into my Top 5 takeaways from this past Sunday’s episode.
5. Fiona was a welcomed addition.
Fiona (Archie Panjabi) was a welcomed addition to this storyline. At least we wonder if she will exert her revenge on Billy, and that’s enough to distract us from the other issues.
4. The truth –
With Fiona on board after Billy’s money, it seems that both him and Ruby are now telling the truth for the most part. This, of course, will end up well (sigh).
3. Happiness –
2. The Chase –
I’ll admit that the chase scene was pretty cool and the lone high note from episode 4 for me. I wish that we could see more of that as the story unfolds. Based on how this one ended, we just might.
1. Say What?
What do you think of the show? Have you been watching it?
