Run certainly ended well last week and left the audience feeling hopeful going into episode 2. It seems as if those feelings were ill-placed. The playful and flirty nature of episode one morphed into a befuddling mess. Perhaps these episodes are too short? An hour might have been just enough to build the sexual tension between Ruby and Billy. Now it just seems as if we are cutting to verb with no look at what drove them in their personal lives to revisit a college fling. There’s certainly a back story to dive into, we just don’t have to do it. With that mine, here are my takeaways from Monday.
4. The best part of the night was …
The whole sequence where Ruby is picking which man she’s going to seduce on the train is the best part of the episode and it happens around minute 10.
3. Billy’s Storyline?
Run has not done a great job laying out why Billy would Run away from everything to meet up with his ex from college. Is he just an awful person?
2. Ruby’s Backstory?
All we know about Ruby is that she’s tired of being a wife and a mother. That’s it! Maybe she’s unhappy living a domesticated life?
1. Can we keep the focus on these two?
