Natalie Dormer

Review: ‘Penny Dreadful: City of Angels’ Episode 4

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels was undoubtedly eye-opening. Lines were crossed, and decisions made that will impact how the series will eventually wrap up. We see many of the characters morph into something unfamiliar, which only helps Magda (Natalie Dormer). Here are our 5 takeaways from Sunday’s episode.

5. This was hard to watch.

Seeing Josefina getting assaulted by that police officer was very disconcerting for apparent reasons. It also became clear that this event was going to be what ultimately flipped Mateo.

4. Rio pushed Mateo over the edge.

They eventually find the cop and beat him up pretty badly. Rio is the one who convinces Mateo to kill him, which pushes him over that edge. There’s no turning back for him.

3. Scary!

Scariest moment of the series so far!

2. The future –

There’s no way that once Mr. Townsend has served his purpose, he’s allowed to live. He’s too much of a liability.

We all know that Mr. Townsend likes to visit bathhouses, but no one would have suspected the Nazi assassin hooking up with him while his boss filmed it.
